Challenge

Purchasing cemetery plots and funeral services is typically a manual, emotionally sensitive process involving in-person visits, unclear pricing, and paperwork delays. The challenge was to modernize this experience with an online platform that maintained empathy, ensured trust, and met regulatory and logistical requirements unique to the funeral industry.

Solution

We built OurGuidant, a full-featured web platform for selecting and purchasing burial plots and service packages. I led full-stack development and architectural planning. Key features included:

• An interactive cemetery map showing real-time plot availability with “add to cart” functionality.
• Secure payment processing through Authorize.net.
• DocuSign integration for digital contract review and signing.
• A relational database schema designed with Prisma and PostgreSQL to manage inventory and reservations.

• Enabled a frictionless, secure end-to-end purchasing experience in a traditionally offline industry.
